Erxleben, 1744 in Quedlinburg geboren, war ein Sohn der ersten an einer deutschen Universität promovierten Medizinerin und praktizierenden Ärztin Dorothea Christiane Erxleben. Zeitgleich mit Lichtenberg wird Erxleben Professor der Physik (und der Tierheilkunde). Er stirbt bereits 1777.
Erxleben, who was born in Quedlinburg in 1744, was a son of the first woman to receive a doctoral degree from a German university in medicine and a practising physician. Erxleben became Professor of Physics (and Veterinary Medicine) at the same time as Lichtenberg. He died already in 1777.
